BRINGING STORY TO LIFE:
The Art & Therapy of Puppetry

With Alice Maschler

Fri 17th – Sun 19th July 2026, 10am – 4pm

Cost: £240.00

About the Course:

This three day introduction puppet workshop explores the use of puppetry in education and Art Therapy . We will discuss the different kinds of puppets and learn to make simple and effective puppets that can be used in individual and group therapy and classroom situations.

The workshop will examine the power of giving voice to the unconscious through story and metaphor and attendees will learn basic puppetry skills and techniques for creating animation from various materials. Each participant will make their own personalised puppet using air drying clay.

About Alice Maschler

Alice completed her arts counsellor training at Tobias in 2023 and has over twenty years of experience working with children through education and the creative arts. Her puppetry journey began in 1996 with a troupe bringing laughter to children in war-torn Bosnia and later grew into puppet-based workshops in UK schools and a school she founded in Southern India centred on creativity and joyful learning.

She now works as an art counsellor with young children and teens, using the transformative power of art and puppetry to support healing, connection, and self-expression.
