The end of the summer term is always an emotional time at Tobias. The 3rd year students leave for pastures new and we bid a farewell to our second year students as they embark on their placement year in the community.
The students have been a tight- knit group and have forged strong friendships. We celebrated their onward journey as a whole school and shared a delicious bring-and-share meal in the glorious sunshine before lighting a huge bonfire as part of St. John’s festival. We sang songs, read poems and enjoyed one another’s company late into the evening.
The following day the students were asked to write one line depicting their experiences at Tobias on small luggage labels which we hung onto our apple trees. This was a lovely reflection of the student’s time here at Tobias.
There was also a thoughtful sensory experience planned and organised by our first year students which our leaving students found extremely memorable.
The students will now pursue their placements in a variety of settings which includes schools, mental health care settings, Streettalk (trafficked women) and many more, both in the UK and overseas. We look forward to seeing them periodically over the next year as they put their study into practice and work on their case study and dissertation.
