The Oak Studio - start date 30th September 2010
The Oak Studio provides Art for Creativity and Wellbeing under the umbrella of Tobias School of Art and Therapy. It offers a unique opportunity for individuals facing health challenges, both physical and mental, to work with art in a supportive environment.
Why Oak Studio?
The oak has great inner strength; it is a symbol of individuality and provides shelter and food for many living creatures. It can stand independently and has endurance in all kinds of weather. Such a great oak greets you at the entrance to Tobias.
What do we offer?
We offer creative opportunities through experience and exploration. We encourage the development of art skills as well as experiential understanding and knowledge of various art processes - painting, drawing and sculpture.
Art themes will include:
- qualities of colour and form to understand harmony, balance, proportion and rhythm
- the cycles and rhythms of nature to become enlivened and find an inner connection with your surroundings
- art history
- fairy tales, myths, legends, poems
The structured workshop programme will have flexibility to cater for individual needs and wishes.
How may you benefit?
Working with art processes can help improve self-confidence, give inner grounding and let you discover a new harmony, balance and joy within yourself. Through your awakened creativity a new world of wonder and beauty can become yours, alongside feelings of wellness, integration and wholeness. The supportive, social environment can help you strengthen your individual resources, and find inner nourishment and warmth. All this can lead to a more purposeful and better quality of life.
